Dear Friends,
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all that made possible the Seventh Annual Heroes for Hope Gala on Monday, June 16th, 2008 at The Pierre Hotel in New York. We would like to first thank our Strike-Out Sponsors: Anheuser-Busch, Continental Airlines, and Captivate Network, and our Heroes for Hope Sponsors: New York Yankees, Johnnie Walker, and The Turner Corporation.
We would also like to thank the many celebrities in attendance, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos served as Masters of Ceremonies for the evening while New York Yankees announcer and television host Michael Kay opened the night by welcoming the New York Yankees individually. We heard some wonderful opening remarks from Hon. Adolfo Carrión, Jr. and introduction by Suzyn Waldman. Jorge's fellow teammates in attendance included: Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, Brian Harkey, Chien-Ming Wang, Hideki Matsui, Dan Giese, Darrell Rasner, Jose Veras, Edwar Ramitez, Robinson Cano, Wilson Betemit, Melky Cabrera, Bobby Abreu and Manager Joe Giardi. The evening also included a piano performance Delta Goodrem and concluded with a crowd appealing performance by Kat de Luna.
Our most sincere gratitude goes out to our Heroes for Hope Award recipient, Mr. George M. Steinbrenner III and to Mr. Hal Steinbrenner for accepting the award on behalf for his father.
Finally, we would like to thank all those that participated in our live auction. Patrick Tully served as auctioneer, for this exciting part of the evening which included experiences such as going to a New York Yankees Game with Billy Crystal, Honorary Bat Boy or Girl for the New York Yankees, Four Front Row Seats at Yankees v. Red Sox on July 4th, and Johnny Pag Custom Bike signed by 2008 The New York Yankees Team.
The evening was truly magical! The wonderful ambiance and beautiful flower arrangements were made possible by Alana Rose Designs and we could not have done all this without the assistance and support of Alfred Rosenthal from By Invitation Only.
The Heroes for Hope Gala raised over $750,000 in cash and in-kind donations. These funds will serve as the major source of funding to continue the mission of raising awareness about Craniosynostosis and serving families and children affected by this condition.
