Longtime Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, who spent his entire 17-year Major League career in pinstripes, announced his retirement during a Tuesday morning news conference at Yankee Stadium.
"Today's a very emotional day for me," said Posada. "Ever since I was a little kid, I remember that all I wanted to do was become a Major Leaguer. I became a member of the New York Yankees, and that's all I wanted when I was a little kid."
With his wife, Laura, and two children, Jorge and Paulina, sitting beside him, Posada became very emotional as he announced his career was over.
