Selecciones magazine has named five Supermamas for 2009, which including Laura Posada.
While you may find Laura Posada on the sidelines cheering for her husband, Yankees catcher, Jorge, many call the mother of two the real champion. Shortly after Jorge Luis, their first child, was born in 1999, he was diagnosed with craniosynostosis, a condition that prematurely hardened his skull. Laura Posada talks to Selecciones about going through a period of depression and anxiety as her son underwent eight grueling surgeries that required doctors to piece his skull together -- and how she learned to turn her experience into an endeavor that helps families through the emotional and financial stress that comes with having a diagnosed child. She spends many hours working on the Jorge Posada Foundation's efforts, from fundraising to taking calls from families any time of the day.
