Alina was born May 26, 2009. It was a natural delivery and an uncomplicated pregnancy. At 7 months, it became evident that Alina's head shape was not going to "fix itself" as my pediatrician kept assuring me. In March 2010 (Alina was 9 months old), Alina was diagnosed by Dr. Goodrich (neurosurgeon at Montefiore Medical Center) with left coronal craniosynostosis.
Alina's surgery was April 14, 2010. She recovered nicely and was home in 5 days. Now, Alina is thriving and meeting all her milestones. She is 14 months old and is starting to walk. She is a tough baby who overcame this obstacle fairly well.
